online learning resources

Dear Bulldog Parents,

We hope you are all navigating this winter weather and staying safe and warm.  You may have seen posts from the school in our LMS, Schoology, informing students to take their school-issued Chromebooks home in the event of school cancellations due to weather conditions.  We will be sending Chromebooks home with 1st through 12th graders each time we have a potential for a school closure due to weather for the foreseeable future.

Traditionally, we schedule 3 snow days into our adopted calendar each year, this year's weather patterns have exhausted those allotted days faster than usual.  In an effort to reduce lengthening the school year in order to meet the State’s required number of contact days, we will be instituting online/ home learning days moving forward.  Teachers have been developing lesson plans and procedures for online/ home days that will support our students at home during a closure outside of our control.

The lesson delivery methods will differ based on grade level and content areas.  Just as during COVID, teachers will be able to utilize video conferencing to connect with their students during their scheduled classtimes as if they were in person.  Asynchronous sessions may also be used where instruction/ direction is prerecorded in Schoology and students then perform specific activities assigned to them.  Assignments and or activities assigned to students during these days are expected to be completed by the student and hold the same graded weight as if we were in person.

Additionally, attendance will be tracked through multiple avenues including, log-ins to Schoology, completion of assigned work, returned work if not assigned digitally, attending a virtual class session with the teacher, and responses to emails if directed by the teacher.  Expectations for each class, elementary and secondary, will come directly from your child’s classroom teacher.  If you have questions in regard to the learning expectations of an online/ home learning day, please reach out to your child’s teacher.  Attendance or access questions can be directed to Mr. Forster if you need clarification as to the expectations for any online/ home learning day.

It is the desire of Peetz School District and its staff to give our students the best learning experiences in all circumstances.  Below, you will find links for your support in contacting or accessing the specific online portals that a teacher may use during our online/ home learning days.
