Merino finished its volleyball season at the top of Class 1A for the third year running and, naturally, a good number of those champions made their way onto their 2A/1A Lower Platte all-conference list.

Freshman Jaylynn Lynch, freshman Kya Piel, sophomore Brooklyn Sutter and junior Makenna Sutter all earned made first team and freshman Jadelynn Powell followed their lead with an honorable mention. The Rams finished their title-worthy season with a 26-4 record, thanks in part to strong performances from these five ladies.

Lynch made her presence known quickly in the high school sphere as she collected 177 kills, 43 aces, 49 blocks and 338 digs. Piel added to those numbers with 149 kills, 54 aces and 476 digs. Brooklyn Sutter dominated at the net with 1,016 assists and contributed another 37 aces.

Makenna Sutter wowed with 520 kills, 65 aces, 84 blocks and 575 digs. Powell added 142 kills, 34 blocks and 220 digs.

Fleming, who finished state runner-up to Merino and even stole a match from the Rams earlier in the 1A state tournament, locked in seven players for the North Central League’s all-conference list. Senior Kally Kirkwood, senior Lexi Schaefer, junior Madi Serrato, senior Maddy Harms and freshman Ciana Lousberg all made first team as Laney Schliesser and freshman Brooke Schaefer earned spots on the honorable mention list.

Kirkwood, naturally, dominated in nearly every facet of the game with 429 kills, 34 aces, 51 blocks, 214 assists and 243 digs. She did not, however, lead in every category. Lexi Schaefer led the way on defense with 280 digs and added 34 aces. Serrato contributed 69 aces and 127 digs.

Harms took the reins of the net defense 59 blocks. Lousberg stunned at the setter position with 447 assists but didn’t stop there. She collected 187 digs, 49 aces and 125 kills. Schliesser amassed 219 digs and 24 aces, and Brooke Schaefer added another 98 digs.

Even a few Peetz ladies made their way into North Central’s all-conference honors, as Khira Gipfert led on first team and Addison Ramey and Lexie Nienhauser found spots on honorable mention.

Ghipfert collected 15 kills, 10 aces and 68 digs through 41 sets. Ramey added another 40 kills, 11 blocks. 63 digs and 46 assists. Nienhauser rounded out the effort with 44 kills and 85 digs.
