2026 Peetz Sake Parade Marshals
Dale and Bonita Dickinson
Parade will be held Saturday, September 19th at 10:00
This year’s Peetz Sake Parade Marshals are Dale and Bonita Dickinson. Dale and Bonita are Peetz Lions members who used to live in Peetz in the 80’s when Bonita was the math teacher at Peetz.
Bonita was born in Kimball, NE and grew up on a farm in the Bushnell area. She went to school in Pines Bluff, WY from 3rd grade till graduation. She went to the University of Kearney and graduated with a degree in Math and Physical Science.
Dale was born in Sidney, NE and grew up around Sunol, NE. He went to work for Union Pacific Railroad and operated heavy equipment from Sidney to North Platte.
Dale met Bonita at an Old Settler’s Day event while she was still in college. They were married three days after Bonita graduated from college in 1968. Throughout Bonita’s teaching career she has taught at Bridgeport, Gurley and a small school north of Lodgepole. Dale was asked to join a railroad crew working on laying track. Bonita quit teaching and joined Dale living in a rail car and traveling all over the country. They were close to Mt. Saint Helen when it erupted in 1980. The crew was laid off since they couldn’t operate the equipment because of the ash falling from the sky. They moved back and Bonita started teaching in Peetz. She continued teaching in Sidney while they lived in the Sunol area. Bonita retired from teaching in 2006. Dale retired from the railroad in 2003 with 43 years of working on the railroad.
Dale has been a member of the Peetz Lions Club since 1985, a member of the National Guard for 10 years, Elks Club, American Legion, DAV and Lutheran church. Bonita also is a member of the Peetz Lions Club, American Legion Auxiliary, BPO Does, Rebekahs, Teacher Association. Lutheran Church, and Board of Sunol Community Center.
Dale and Bonita said they have had a fulfilling life with their travels, working careers and meeting students and friends along the way.
