Peetz football has spent the better part of its season ripping a path through its 6-man bracket and on Sunday morning, the Bulldogs were rewarded with the No. 10 seed for the playoffs and will play No. 7 Branson/Kim out of the gate.

Week in and week out, the Bulldogs have flexed their muscles against tough competition and teams that weren’t so hard to beat, falling only twice through nine games. They saw swings as extreme as a 51-0 victory over Kiowa to a regular season-ending, 62-48 loss at the hands of No. 3 Otis. Their only other setback came by one point, 48-47, to a Briggsdale team that earned the No. 12 seed for the playoffs.

The Bulldogs have found success by defying the run-heavy mantra of 6-man football, instead opting to split their time between the pass and the run. Senior quarterback Chance Segelke has taken on the brunt of the passing game with 812 yards and 19 touchdowns, followed by sophomore Swiss Army knife Rhyder Bayne, who’s thrown an additional 405 yards and 11 scores.

Bayne, Peetz’s not-so-secret weapon, has doubled up with a lethal ground game that’s seen him run 939 yards for 12 touchdowns. The Bulldogs, as a whole, have accumulated 1,952 rushing yards and 54 rushing scores.

Branson/Kim likewise ended its regular season slate with a 7-2 record and, while it’s shown it can throw the ball efficiently, relies far more on the run.

To date, the Bearcats have amassed 2,663 rushing yards, most of which belong to Kolter Cranson (1,607 yards, 30 touchdowns) and Brock Doherty (912 yards, nine touchdowns), but have enjoyed 560 passing yards and eight airborne touchdowns from quarterback Owen Doherty. Brock Doherty has added another 269 passing yards.
