Wins don’t always come easy for Caliche volleyball, but they sure are sweet when they make an appearance.

In a week filled to the brim with contests, the Buffaloes put one more win on the board when Peetz came to town. That Saturday match, one of three, proved a challenge in its own right, despite what the 3-0 score might suggest.

The Buffaloes began the match easily enough as they flattened the Bulldogs 25-8 in the opening set, but Peetz found new life in the second and third to make the Buffaloes work for each and every point.

Eventually, Caliche won out with scores of 25-23 and 28-26.

The Buffaloes have just five matches left in their season and will begin the final stretch on Thursday at Wiggins.

Peetz football bounces back in bombastic fashion

A week after suffering its first loss of the season by a single point, Peetz football is back to its winning ways. Much to the chagrin of Hi-Plains.

When the Bulldogs hosted the team out of Seibert on Friday night, they quickly sent them packing with a 57-12 Peetz victory, lending credence toward the Bulldogs’ No. 7 ranking in this week’s Select Football Media Poll.

The Bulldogs blasted the Patriots from the start, scoring 42 points in the opening quarter alone while only allowing six. They took their feet off the gas pedal significantly after that.

The Bulldogs shared the scoring responsibility well as six different players touched the end zone a single time through the run game, and five recorded 30 yards or more. Freshman Conner Schumacher led in that respect, collecting 54 yards with a touchdown, as senior Noah Naegele, senior Aiden Hill, senior Nicoli Serkiz, junior Collin Fehringer and senior Wyatt Talhelm all got on the board.

Peetz, now 6-1, will host 2-5 Weldon Valley on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
