Parents: When dropping or picking up your students, please watch that you do not go through the stop signs on the school buses. This is a state law and if it continues we will notify the state patrol and they will park at the school and issue tickets. This is for the safety of all our kiddos. Plateau School District RE-5 Notice of Proposed School Budget Notice is hereby given that a proposed budget has been submitted to the Board of Education of Plateau School District RE-5 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020 and has been filed in the office of the superintendent where it is available for public inspection. Decision day was May 1st and the school has previously decorated a bulletin board dedicated to the future of each senior class. STUDENT BUSINESS: This year Mrs. Davenport, Mr. Forster and Mrs. Raffelson combined efforts and offered a class to build a student business - Dawg Designs. This collaborative effort was about design, production and business education. The students were creating customer products with the cnc plasma table in the ag shop and the laser cutter in Mrs. Raffelson's room. Dawg Designs was is in its infancy, but we are building. We had 3 students working on creating the business and products for clients and were going to do a showcase at the FFA Oyster Fry. Here is Kyle C. working on cutting out a metal sign on the cnc table. We hope to be back providing lots of client services next year!

WHAT IS MAX UP TO TODAY? Meet Max the dog! He loved being at school! He loved watching all the kindergartners play and learn at school! Since they are not in school now, he asked Mrs. Davis if he could come home with her. Max is busy helping out on the Davis Farm. Max wanted the kindergartners to to figure out what he was doing and write a sentence about it. --This was a fun activity Mrs. Davis has done for kindergartners learning from home. They then took pictures of their sentences and sent them to her.

THANK YOU to the Lyle Schumacher Fund for our new scoreboard! The board was installed on 3/11 - just in time for baseball we thought! Our old scoreboard was damaged in a hail storm last summer and couldn't be repaired. So in the fall - no bobcat with the gym scoreboard hanging from it! Thank you to all who donated and made this possible.

Today we got word that Governor Polis has suspended all in-person learning until April 17th. Staff will be meeting on Monday to finalize a plan for alternative learning for all students. More information will be posted next week or as it becomes available. Thanks!
SOLAR DESIGN! Fourth grade scientists built and tested their solar devices today on the playground. Measuring the temperature of our constant, noting the ambient temperature, and measuring the temperature of the cup of water placed in the solar device, students recorded their observations at 5 minute intervals to draw a conclusion as to the best design.
NASA Engineers! Fourth Grade students tested their collision shield devices this afternoon. This STEM challenge required students to build a device to protect an egg from a drop at various heights. Students defined the problem, designed a product, and tested their solution. Each device was successful!

2 Peetz girls to compete this weekend at The Ranch in Loveland with the Golden Plains Equestrian Team! Makayla M and Ashlynn W will be competing in the newly formed Interscholastic Equestrian Association team. They have been practicing several times a month with Drake Johnson Performance Horses from Wray, Colorado. Congratulations to Jewella B and Addy G for entering Northwest College's High School Photography Contest. Judging will take pace by the end of January and the top 20 winners announced in February. This is the 2nd year for both of them to enter.
McKnight Family Benefit Dinner Tonight
Any high school student who would like to volunteer for Night to Shine, contact Ms. Kennedy. Night to Shine is a prom for students with special needs. Volunteers will help with the event by volunteering to be a date for an area student with special needs or help out with the dance in other ways. The event is on Friday, February 7, 2020, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fort Morgan High School.

Congratulations to Michael Kissel!! He has received confirmation of winning a Colorado FFA SAE Grant. What’s a SAE? A Supervised Agriculture Experience, a requirement of all Ag students to have a project or work experience related to Agriculture that they perform either in school or out. Michael will use this grant to repair and restore a 600 Ford tractor. He will receive the money and award at a reception held during the National Western Stock Show in January.
